ABSTRACT
 Title:  Health related fitness by long term yoga training.
  Aim : To study the effects of long term yoga training on health related fitness and culturing, conditioning of emotions of candidates of Diploma in Yoga Education Course.

 Materials & Mathods:  This randomized prospective study was conducted on 100 trainees of Diploma in Yoga Education Course, conducted every year, by Ghantali  Mitra Mandal  Thane, Maharashtra, India .The aim with which the trainees joined the course was varied from physical fitness  to self evolution. Yogic practices were conducted daily for one & half hour for the total tenure of ten months. The practices included Trataka, 0mkar sadhana, asanas, pranayama, relaxation techniques, dhayna, devotional songs & few sessions of cleansing practices. Lectures imparting knowledge about integrated approach of yoga were delivered. Sadhkas gave feed back about subjective feelings of well being.
 Inclusion Criteria:  The minimum age limit was 18 years, minimum qualification required was SSC.
                                80% attendance for course .
 Exclusion Criteria: Those who were inconsistent in practices.
 Parameters: Various parameters were studied including breath holding time, height, weight, blood
                     pressure, pulse rate, peak exploratory flow rate etc. were noted alongwith waist-hip                      measurement.
                     Based on that following, physiological parameters were studied :-                   
           (1)Body Mass Index (BMI)   
           (2)Waist Hip Ratio (WHR)                
           (3) Breath Holding Capacity (BHC)
           (4) Peak Exploratory Flow Rate (PEFR)
           (5) Pulse rate

     The above physiological parameters were studied
            (1) On the onset of yogic practices.(1st month)
            (2) After completion of three months of the course.
            (3)  At the end of the Diploma course.(10th month)
 Discussion:  There was significant improvement in BHC, WHR , PEFR, Diastolic BP and Pulse Rate,                     after ten months regular & proper  yogic practices.
 Conclusion: At the end of tenth month, there was significant improvement not only in physical                     endurance but also in emotional stability, mental tranquility & in better self assessment.
